Our Mission
Inspire and educate our community toward conservation action and leadership through meaningful wildlife engagement.
Our Programs
Where Conservation Comes to Life.
The Georgia Zoological Society operates at the intersection of education, conservation, and advocacy. Through innovative programs grounded in its four foundational pillars—Education, Conservation, Community, and Leadership—GZS creates meaningful opportunities for people to connect with, learn about, and protect the natural world.
Here's how we’re making a difference:
1. Conservation- Education & Outreach
Inspiring Understanding to Spark Change.
Program access for schoolchildren: Through providing access to engaging on-site programming at the Georgia Safari Conservation Park and outreach into underserved schools and communities, GZS fosters a deep appreciation for wildlife and ecosystems. Children and adults learn about critical issues such as habitat destruction, endangered species, and the delicate balance between humans and nature.
2. Wildlife Conservation & Species Survival Programs
Saving Species, One Action at a Time.
As part of its partnership with the Georgia Safari Conservation Park, GZS supports both in-park animal care and field-based conservation efforts. This includes funding for international conservation partners.
3. Community ACTION & ADVOCACY
Fueling Conservation through Experience & SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIPS.
Through its unique relationship with the Georgia Safari Conservation Park, GZS receives a percentage of park proceeds to fund its mission-driven programs. This partnership ensures that every visitor's experience contributes directly to wildlife conservation and education. For example:
Revenue from the Park helped fund a grant for habitat enrichment tools, which directly improved the welfare and stimulation of resident animals—offering a more enriching life in human care while modeling best practices aligned with AZA standards.
4. Youth Engagement & Future Conservation Leaders
Growing the Next Generation of Wildlife Stewards.
GZS actively invests in youth through educational programs designed to inspire careers in conservation science. Workshops, internships, and school partnerships provide students with real-world exposure to conservation work and animal care.
