FAQs

  • The Georgia Zoological Society (GZS) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit making transformative wildlife education accessible to all, especially underserved communities. We remove barriers so people of all ages and abilities can experience nature, connect with wildlife, and develop lasting bonds with the natural world.

  • Yes, GZS is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

  • Educational opportunities are shrinking for many students in low income, rural, and underserved areas due to budget cuts, reduced field trips, and limited access to science resources. Since 2008, 60 percent of schools nationwide have reduced enrichment programs, and rural students are twice as likely to lack access to museums, zoos, or science centers. Within an hour of Madison, Georgia, more than 600 Title I schools have little or no exposure to wildlife or conservation education outside the classroom.

This matters because time in nature improves academic performance, sparks curiosity, inspires conservation action, and strengthens cognitive, emotional, and physical well being. Without access, students lose out on career pathways in STEM and environmental fields, as well as the social and mental health benefits of outdoor learning.

We offer educational resources, school programs, and zoo field trip support. Educators can contact us directly for tailored partnerships. Contact us here.
